UGANDA – Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Gorilla trekking is one of the most extraordinary wildlife encounters on the planet. This experience offers a rare opportunity to observe and photograph mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Trek durations vary depending on the location of the gorilla family you are assigned to. Once your group is located, you will spend approximately one unforgettable hour in their presence before making your way back down the forested slopes.

After the trek, return to the lodge to relax and unwind.

Gorilla Trekking Permits

Gorilla permits are limited and issued daily. Trek lengths differ based on the movement and location of each gorilla family, as well as terrain conditions.

About Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Bwindi is home to approximately 326 mountain gorillas, representing nearly half of the world’s remaining population. The forest also supports an impressive diversity of wildlife, including:

Around 30 elephants
120 species of mammals, including 7 diurnal primates
360 species of birds
Over 200 species of butterflies
324 tree species, 10 of which are found nowhere else in Uganda

This Afro‑montane forest is characterized by dense undergrowth of ferns, vines, and shrubs—creating the “impenetrable” terrain that makes Bwindi so unique and ecologically rich.
